You don’t have to go far to see wildlife in the Odra River. In many spots throughout Wrocław, you can observe animals and nature right from the riverside.
Fishing in the City
Wildlife in the Odra River includes a wide variety of fish species, making it a great place for anglers in Wrocław. Forums often recommend areas like the stretch near the University, Niskie Łąki, and the Milenijny and Warszawskie bridges.
Popular catches include carp, grass carp, perch, zander, catfish, and pike, along with roach, tench, crucian carp, asp, chub, and bream. In 2009, sea trout even returned to the Bystrzyca River after decades, adding to the richness of wildlife in the Odra River.
Between Osobowice and the Rędzin Lock, anglers can find carp, tench, bream, and roach—especially in quiet inlets where the current slows. Be aware of water level changes due to lock operations.
Other solid fishing spots include Most Osobowicki, the Oława River near Park Wschodni, and the barge basin in Osobowice, especially in spring or autumn. Each of these sites offers a window into the everyday wildlife in the Odra River.

One of the easiest ways to see wildlife in the Odra River is by walking along Wrocław’s boulevards. These paths follow the river and provide easy access to nature within the city.
- Wrocławski Boulevard (Maria and Lech Kaczyński) – Near the University Library and Grunwaldzki Bridge, this spot has big urban bean bags and the “WRO” sign.
- Prince Witold Boulevard (Bulwary Książece) – Built in 2021, this is a modern, well-kept area that mixes old port infrastructure with new apartments and cafes.
- Tadek Jasiński Boulevard – Runs between Herkules Fountain and Krupnicza Street. It’s close to the Old Town and full of good places to eat.
- Rector Stanisław Kulczyński Boulevard – A quiet, relaxing spot next to the technical university. Ideal for reading or jogging.
- Xawery Dunikowski Boulevard – A social place with events, food trucks, and a great view of dragon boat races.
- Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński Boulevard – Connects to Ostrów Tumski, Wrocław’s oldest part, and offers a calm, scenic walk.
