Tarczyński Arena Wrocław isn’t just for football fans. Yes, it’s the home of Śląsk Wrocław and one of the UEFA Euro 2012 venues, but that’s just the beginning! From concerts and museum tours to go-kart racing and winter skating, the stadium is packed with things to do for locals and tourists alike. Here’s what makes this place one of Wrocław’s most versatile attractions.

A Stadium Built for Big Things

Tarczyński Arena Wrocław, formerly known simply as Stadion Miejski (City Stadium), was built between 2008 and 2011 as part of Poland’s preparations for UEFA Euro 2012. It officially opened in September 2011 with a George Michael concert, and since then, it has hosted everything from international football matches to boxing bouts and music festivals.

The project was designed by Polish firm JSK Architekci and cost nearly 947 million PLN. It’s located in the Maślice district in western Wrocław and can seat over 42,000 people. The single-level seating structure gives it the title of the largest stadium in Europe with one-tiered stands, offering great visibility from every seat.

In 2021, a naming rights deal with the meat producer Tarczyński gave the stadium its current name: Tarczyński Arena Wrocław.

Modern Design That Works

The stadium’s design is functional and modern. The facade is made from semi-transparent PTFE mesh — a kind of high-tech, teflon-coated fiberglass that allows the stadium to be lit up in different colours. It’s why people say the building looks like a glowing lantern, especially at night.

Inside, all 42,771 seats are covered, numbered, and comfortable. The stadium also includes over 2,000 VIP seats, business lounges with viewing terraces, and full accessibility for people with disabilities — from special seating and low counters to commentary headsets for hearing-impaired guests.

The roof is partially glassed to allow more sunlight onto the pitch. Rainwater from the roof is collected and reused for watering the field and flushing toilets, which makes the stadium surprisingly eco-friendly.
