Wrocław has secured third place in Poland in the Polish Economy Diamonds 2025 ranking, with 1,267 companies whose estimated market value exceeded PLN 10 million in December 2025.
The city sits behind Warsaw and Kraków and ahead of Poznań and Gdańsk, giving Wrocław one of the strongest showings among Poland's major urban economies.
Wrocław among Poland's top three
The ranking comes from the Instytut Europejskiego Biznesu (European Business Institute) and covers 1,026 cities across Poland.
A total of 323 cities received the title Brylant Polskiej Gospodarki 2025. The distinction was awarded to cities with at least 10 companies whose estimated market value was above PLN 10 million at the end of December 2025.
Wrocław recorded 1,267 qualifying companies, placing it third nationally.
The result places Wrocław among just four cities with more than 1,000 companies meeting the ranking's threshold.
A useful snapshot of Wrocław's business base
Wrocław's economy has a strong presence across business, technology, services, manufacturing and other sectors, alongside its large academic community and growing international population.
The Polish Economy Diamonds ranking does not attempt to capture every aspect of that economy. Its figures are based specifically on companies with an estimated market value above PLN 10 million.
That makes the result best understood as a measure of the concentration of companies meeting a particular financial threshold, rather than a comprehensive ranking of economic output.
For residents, the figure nonetheless offers an interesting indication of the scale of the commercial ecosystem operating from Wrocław.
The methodology behind the ranking
The European Business Institute says its calculations use reliable, publicly available financial information from the Krajowy Rejestr Sądowy (National Court Register).
Estimated company market values are calculated using a method analogous to the valuation of Polish companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, with P/E (price-to-earnings) and P/BV (price-to-book) ratios among the indicators used.
The Institute says it has been analysing Polish companies for more than 20 years, using financial data to prepare rankings of businesses and local authorities with significant economic potential.
Wrocław's place in the national picture
The top five cities in the 2025 ranking are Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław, Poznań and Gdańsk.
Wrocław's third-place position means the city has the third-largest number of companies meeting the PLN 10 million estimated market-value threshold in the published ranking.
It is also worth keeping the scale of the wider competition in mind. The title was awarded to 323 of Poland's 1,026 cities, meaning the recognition covers a broad group of local economies rather than only the country's largest metropolitan areas.
