Volunteer Opportunities Open Across Wrocław As Two Charities Recruit New Helpers
Residents looking to give something back to their community have two new opportunities to get involved this year, as both Stowarzyszenie PORANEK and Szlachetna Paczka begin recruiting volunteers in Wrocław.
Although each organisation takes a different approach, both are looking for people willing to offer their time, practical support and compassion to those facing difficult circumstances. Whether helping deliver food, supporting someone with everyday tasks or visiting families in need, volunteers can play a direct role in improving lives across the city.
PORANEK Launches Long-Term Neighbourhood Support Project
Stowarzyszenie PORANEK has announced the launch of its new Neighbourhood Support Network project, which will run until June 2028 thanks to funding from the Polish government's NOWEFIO programme.
The initiative builds on the charity's long-standing work at its food distribution centre on ul. Żeromskiego 3, where around 2,000 people receive food assistance each year.
The new project expands that support beyond food parcels by addressing some of the practical and social challenges many vulnerable residents experience, including isolation, mobility issues and digital exclusion.
Planned activities include:
- recruiting and training neighbourhood volunteers
- delivering heavy food parcels directly to residents unable to collect them themselves
- helping people with official paperwork and online public services such as ePUAP and the Trusted Profile (Profil Zaufany)
- providing guidance on using smartphones and digital technology
- organising neighbourhood meetings and community events to strengthen local connections
Rather than focusing solely on emergency assistance, the charity hopes to encourage greater independence and create stronger relationships between volunteers and residents.
Volunteers of all backgrounds are welcome
PORANEK says previous volunteering experience is not required. New recruits will receive training, ongoing support from a volunteer coordinator and preparation before beginning their role.
People may find themselves helping an older resident carry a food parcel upstairs one day, explaining how to use a smartphone another, or simply spending time with someone who appreciates a friendly conversation.
Szlachetna Paczka Begins Volunteer Recruitment
At the same time, Szlachetna Paczka has opened recruitment for its latest team of volunteers ahead of this year's campaign.
The nationally recognised charity is inviting people to become part of its network supporting families and individuals experiencing poverty and financial hardship.
Volunteers visit households in their local area, learn about each family's circumstances and help identify those who will receive support through the annual Christmas campaign. They also stay in contact with donors and help coordinate the delivery of assistance during the well-known Weekend of Miracles in December.
The organisation says volunteers receive structured onboarding, training materials, online learning resources and guidance throughout the process.
Current and former volunteers describe the role as emotionally challenging at times, but also deeply rewarding, offering opportunities to meet new people, develop valuable communication skills and make a genuine difference within their own communities.
Different Roles With the Same Purpose
Although the two organisations offer different volunteering experiences, they share a common aim of strengthening communities through personal involvement rather than simply providing financial or material support.
PORANEK focuses on ongoing neighbourhood assistance throughout the year, while Szlachetna Paczka centres much of its work around identifying families in need and coordinating support during the Christmas period.
For Wrocław residents considering volunteering for the first time, both programmes offer structured training and welcome applicants without previous experience. With charities increasingly relying on volunteers to reach those who need help most, even a few hours of spare time can have a lasting impact on someone else's everyday life.
