Free Community Picnic at Park Jedności Brings Family Fun to Zakrzów This August

Summer weekends in Wrocław are made for spending time outdoors, and residents of Zakrzów will soon have another opportunity to do just that. On Sunday, 2 August, Park Jedności will host the latest edition of the Wakacje z wroclaw.pl community picnic, offering four hours of free activities, educational attractions and relaxed family entertainment in one of the city’s growing northern neighbourhoods.

Taking place between 12:00 and 16:00, the free event invites residents to swap shopping centres and screens for an afternoon in the park, with space to relax, learn something new and meet local organisations. Families, neighbours, friends and even four-legged companions are all welcome.

Bringing City Information Into the Community

Rather than expecting residents to visit municipal offices, the organisers are once again taking their travelling Residents’ Knowledge Zone directly into local neighbourhoods. The initiative aims to make city services and practical information more accessible while creating a welcoming community event that feels informal rather than official.

For many local families, it is also a chance to spend quality time together without leaving their neighbourhood, while discovering projects, organisations and initiatives that are shaping everyday life across Wrocław.

What Visitors Can Expect

Throughout the afternoon, Park Jedności will be transformed into a series of themed activity zones designed for visitors of all ages.

Those looking to unwind can relax in the picnic area with deckchairs set out across the park, while children and adults alike can take part in a city-wide stamp challenge. By completing simple activities at each stand, visitors can collect stamps and receive free city-themed gifts. Those who manage to visit every Wakacje z wroclaw.pl picnic throughout the summer will also be entered for a special end-of-season prize.

Elsewhere, interactive games will introduce visitors to different aspects of city life, from learning how Wrocław’s budget is spent to exploring local neighbourhoods through educational board games and digital displays designed to explain everyday council services in a simple and engaging way.

Practical demonstrations will also form part of the programme. Visitors can learn how to pack an emergency backpack, recognise public warning signals and test their reactions through safety-themed games. Environmental activities will encourage recycling and waste reduction, while technology enthusiasts can try cybersecurity challenges designed to promote safer online habits.

For those simply looking to capture the day, a colourful photo booth will be available free of charge throughout the event.

Local Organisations Join the Programme

Alongside the city’s own activity zones, a number of local organisations and exhibitors will also be taking part, offering workshops, demonstrations and opportunities to learn more about community initiatives across Wrocław. The full list of participating organisations is expected to be announced closer to the event.

These community partnerships have become an increasingly popular part of the summer picnic series, giving residents the opportunity to meet local groups in a relaxed setting away from traditional information events.

Part of a Summer Programme Across Wrocław

The Zakrzów picnic is one of several free events taking place across Wrocław this summer as part of the Wakacje z wroclaw.pl programme. Every two weeks, the event moves to a different neighbourhood, ensuring families across the city have access to free outdoor activities during the school holidays.

After the stop at Park Jedności, the programme continues on 16 August in Park Szczytnicki, beside the Małpi Gaj playground, before finishing on 30 August at Polana Karłowicka.

With long summer afternoons, green spaces and a growing calendar of neighbourhood events, initiatives like these continue to highlight how Wrocław’s parks become natural meeting places during the warmer months, bringing together residents from across the city in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
