Hydropolis invites families to a free end-of-summer picnic
The final weekend of the summer holidays is getting a splash of science and outdoor fun at Hydropolis in Wrocław.
On Saturday, 29 August 2026, the area in front of the water-focused education centre will host a free family picnic from 10:00 to 16:00. Children and their parents or guardians can expect hands-on science, games, face painting, a foam party and plenty of opportunities to relax outdoors.
All of the outdoor activities are free, so families can simply turn up and join in without buying an admission ticket.
Foam, experiments and face painting
One of the liveliest parts of the afternoon will be the foam party, giving children the chance to play in a cloud of soft foam and burn off some of their end-of-holiday energy.
For young scientists, Wujek Lisek (Uncle Fox) will be presenting a series of experiments designed to make science colourful, surprising and fun. The demonstrations are aimed at encouraging children to explore through observation and play rather than simply watching from the sidelines.
There will also be:
Children's animations and games
Face painting
Family-friendly activities
A relaxation area with deckchairs
Outdoor entertainment throughout the day
These activities combined with the educational side make the event suitable for families looking for an easy-going way to spend one of the last Saturdays before the new school year begins.
A refreshing taste of Wrocław's tap water
Water naturally takes centre stage at an event organised by Hydropolis, and visitors will be able to stop at a dedicated bar serving Wrocław tap water with fruit additions.
It offers a simple way to cool down during what can still be a warm August day, while also highlighting the importance of responsible water use and reducing reliance on single-use plastic bottles.
Children can also meet Stefania the turtle, Hydropolis's mascot, who will be making an appearance during the picnic.
One of the last chances to see the water printer
The picnic is also an opportunity to explore some of Hydropolis's distinctive outdoor features.
Among them is its water printer, an installation that uses streams of water to create moving images and lettering. It operates only during the summer season, making the end of August one of the final opportunities to see the installation in action this year.
Visitors can also take a look at the green roof and the sensory area, adding a quieter and more exploratory element to the visit.
Free entry to the outdoor event
The family picnic takes place outside Hydropolis on 29 August from 10:00 to 16:00.
Outdoor attractions are free and do not require a ticket.
Families who want to continue their visit inside the Hydropolis exhibition can do so separately, with standard admission charges applying according to the current ticket price list.
For Wrocław families, it is a useful option for the final stretch of the summer holidays: a few hours outdoors, some science and water-themed activities, and no admission charge for the main programme. Tourists staying in the city can also add the event to a weekend itinerary, particularly if they are travelling with children.
With the school year just around the corner, Hydropolis is offering a relaxed way to give the holidays a final splash before September begins.
