If you’ve done the Market Square, checked out the dwarfs, crossed the bridges, and still have a free weekend in Wrocław — here’s something completely different: live horse racing, stylish hats, cheering crowds, and picnics in the sun. Welcome to Partynice Racecourse! Just minutes from the city center, this historic venue is where elegance meets adrenaline, and where locals and expats gather for unforgettable Sundays on the turf — completely free of charge.
A Venue with Over a Century of Tradition
Established in 1907 and still going strong, Partynice Racecourse is one of only three active racecourses in Poland — and the only one that offers full-scale steeplechase races. This demanding cross-country format features fences, hedges, and water jumps, making it one of the most dynamic and visually striking forms of horse racing.
Since 2013, Partynice has focused exclusively on purebred horses — English Thoroughbreds (folbluty) and Arabians (araby), known globally for their speed and stamina. The track has also become a fixture on the international racing circuit, serving as one of ten European venues in the prestigious Crystal Cup European Cross Country Challenge — the steeplechase equivalent of the Champions League.
But despite its elite pedigree, the atmosphere at Partynice remains surprisingly open and welcoming. Racedays are popular not just with seasoned fans, but with families, dog-walkers, and visitors simply looking for something a little different.

Races, Picnics, and a Touch of Elegance
What makes a visit to Partynice Racecourse so appealing is how effortlessly it blends top-level sport with a relaxed, accessible experience. There are no ticket barriers, no dress code (unless you want to enter a special zone), and no need to be an expert in racing. Just show up, grab a free race program from one of the stands, and find a seat in the grandstand — or settle down on the grass with friends.
The biggest events of the year — Crystal Cup & Ladies Day in June, and Wielka Wrocławska & Gentleman’s Day in September — offer something extra. Not only do they feature the most important races of the season, but they also include a fashion competition, where visitors can win prizes (including trips to racecourses abroad) for embracing the classic racing look. Hats and fascinators are encouraged.
For those who truly want the best view, the VEP Zone (Very Elegant Person) offers access to a premium viewing area, including the historic Old Tea House and Club Box. Entry is free, but proper attire — elegant dresses and headwear for women, suits and ties for men — is the only requirement. No denim, t-shirts, sportswear, or sandals allowed. It’s all about celebrating tradition with style.

A Place to Watch — and to Ride
If watching from the sidelines inspires you to get in the saddle, Partynice Racecourse has you covered. The on-site Wyższa Szkółka Jazdy (Advanced Riding School) offers riding lessons throughout the week, with programs suitable for beginners, children (starting from age 3), and more advanced riders. In total, the school hosts over 700 riding sessions weekly and maintains a fleet of 45 horses, including smaller breeds suited for young riders.
The school also features a vaulting section — acrobatics performed on a moving horse — and hosts the International Bridleless Riding Championship, an unusual and impressive event where riders compete without bridles or bits.

A Green Space for Locals and Visitors Alike
Beyond the race days and equestrian training, Partynice Racecourse serves as a popular outdoor space all year round. The grounds are open daily from 7:00 to 21:00, and entry is always free. A 3.5-kilometre path (including a 2.5-kilometre loop around the track) is perfect for walking, jogging, or Nordic walking. It’s particularly loved by residents of Wrocław’s southern districts, but it’s equally welcoming to tourists looking for a bit of calm away from the Old Town.
Nearby, there’s also a tree-top rope park with routes for all ages, and a small bistro serving hot meals, drinks, and coffee. You’ll also find public restrooms throughout the venue — a detail many visitors are grateful for.

More Than Horses: Events for Every Interest
Though racing is the heart of Partynice, the racecourse also doubles as an event venue. Over the years, it has hosted everything from concerts and food festivals to obstacle races and local markets. Highlights include:
- Runmageddon – an extreme obstacle course challenge
- The Wine & Cheese Festival
- Garden fairs and local markets
- Męskie Granie, one of Poland’s largest music festivals
These events attract thousands, but the relaxed, open-air atmosphere remains consistent.

Practical Information for Your Visit
Getting to Partynice Racecourse is straightforward. It’s located about 7 kilometres from Wrocław’s Rynek (Market Square) and is easily accessible via bike, public transport, train (disembark at Wrocław Partynice station) or car (external paid parking is available via ul. Zwycięska on race days).
- Location: ul. Zwycięska 2, Wrocław
- Opening Hours: Daily, 7:00–21:00
- Entry: Free (including race days)
- Betting available: On-site or online at traf.pl
